Hello. Often there are situations when you need to get remote access to your computer, while at work, visiting, eventually in another room. Below you will find the most popular ways to do this.
Option 1 – RDP.
If you do not have a home version of Windows installed, then you can use the regular Windows utility and connect via RDP. To enable this feature, you need to add your user to the Administrators group or to the Remote Desktop Users group. To do this, press the keys win + r (or start-execute) and type lusrmgr.msc. In the window that opens, go to users and double click on our user, go to the group membership tab, click on add and enter the group name, or click on the search and then all groups of the computer will be displayed.
After you have added the user to the desired group, you need to go into the computer properties, advanced settings, the Remote Access tab and put a check on against allow remote connections to this computer.
After that, you need to open port 3389 in the firewall. We go to the control panel, firewall windows, click additional parameters, parameters for incoming connections and find ports 3389, select them and turn them on.
After that, you need to throw this port on the router, if you plan to connect from the Internet.
In order to connect from a remote computer run mstsc, specify your address, the port from which it was dropped (if it is different from the local one) and enter credentials.
Pros of the RDP – very good performance, in recent versions of Windows – support for remotefx, which allows you to skip graphics, and in general you can even play a game. Minus – if there is no access to the router, or there is no white ip, then this way will not work for you.
Option 2 – VNC
VNC is an open-source remote desktop protocol. In contrast to RDP, you connect to both KVM, that is, if someone is sitting in front of your computer monitor, he will see what you are doing. There is a great variety of VNC servers for Windows, I’ll show you how to configure it using UltraVNC (you can download it here –http://www.uvnc.com/downloads/ultravnc.html)
During the installation, select the server, and optionally the client
Then we select that the service should be installed
After installation, you need to configure the server, go to the VNC server settings, right-click the VNC icon in the tray, and select Admin properties. Here you must enter the password for the connection, or you can select the Windows user. I also usually remove the effects of aero, desktop images, etc. Click to apply, and restart the VNC service – at the command prompt with administrator privileges, type:
net stop uvnc_service
net start uvnc_service
Then you need to throw ports 5900 and 5901 on the router and you can install the client on a remote computer and connect.
UltraVNC also allows you to connect through the browser, for this, Java must be installed on the computer. If you want to connect in this way, you need to throw ports 5800 and 5801.
The main disadvantage of VNC can be attributed to the fact that it does not work very fast in Windows, there is a very long delay, when moving and mouse clicks. And it as well as RDP will not work if you have a gray IP (of course, if you connect from the Internet).
In order that there would be no problems with entering text, you need to monitor that when you connect, the English keyboard layout was selected.
Option 3 – TeamViewer
In case you do not have access to the router, or you do not want to configure it, or if you have a gray IP address, then you will need TeamViewer.
This program is free for personal use and paid for commercial, you can download it from here – http://www.teamviewer.com/ru/download/windows.aspx
After installing the program you need to configure it. Go to – advanced – options – security, here we enter the password for connecting
You can also register in the main window (computers and contacts) and add our computer there, then you do not have to remember the ID.
After that, we install TeamViewer on a remote computer, enter our ID and password, and work on the computer.
The drawbacks of TeamViewera include the fact that it’s not clear how the data is processed, they pass through third servers, and it’s not at all the fact that they are not written down, analyzed, etc.
It can also become stupid, suspecting that you are using it for commercial purposes – it limits the time of the session and constantly asks what you would buy the license. Healing by changing the MAC address of the network card.
Option 4 – AmmyyAdmin
AmmyyAdmin is the closest analog of TeamViewer, but it does not require installation and is very easy. You can download it here– http://www.ammyy.com/ru/
To enable connections to the computer without confirmation you need to do the following – go to Ammyy – settings – access rights, if you plan to connect from different computers, you can put ID – ANY, it is better, for security reasons, enter the computer ID From which you plan to connect. Set the password and click ok.
Download AmmyyAdmin to the computer from which we will connect, enter ID, click to connect, enter the password – we work.
There is also an address book here that allows you not to store a lot of IDs in the head.
The disadvantages here are the same as for TeamViewer + the client does not work in a virtual environment.
The main advantage is the ease of use and the lack of the need to have administrator rights to run this program.
